The Redmond Slate is out campaigning for their jobs and claiming they are “Leadership that Delivers.”
Here is a partial list of what they “forgot” to mention—the concessions that Howie and the rest of Row A have delivered to Local 804 members.
* Doubled co-pays for doctor visits.
* Tripled co-pays for prescription drugs.
* Health Fund lost $20 million in last six years. At this rate, the Health Fund will be bankrupt in 3 years!
* Pension Fund lost $183 Million.
* Pension Fund shortfall of $550 Million.
* $100 Million of Pension shortfall due to poor investment decisions, not the bad stock market. (This is according to the fund’s own actuaries.)
* Split wage increases and no COLA last year.
* Longer progression. Three years to get to full pay.
* Gave up coffee pay for new package car drivers—a pay cut of $2,000 to $3,000 a year depending on where you are in the progression.
* Lost right to take morning break when we choose. Now we have to wait until our 10:30 Air is delivered.
* Weak technology language opens the door to discipline based on GPS and Telematics.
* 40 days to make book instead of 30.
* Base wage for part-timers frozen at $8.50 from 1998 until 2013!
* Raised dues by 25%—the biggest dues hike in Teamster history—with no membership vote.
* Doubled dues paid to Joint Council to pay for second pension for Executive Board.
* Monday start times can be changed by 30 minutes.
* Health benefits taken away from new part-timers for the first year (18 months for family coverage).
* No more Full-Time Combo Job Creation. Gave up Article 22.3 language that requires UPS to create new full-time combo jobs for part-timers.
* Seasonals in feeder extended past Christmas eve.
* Doubled the number of days that Feeder drivers have to stay in their bid.
* Doubled the amount of time new drivers are required to stay in the Feeder Dept.
Use Your Vote to Say No More Givebacks
“The Redmond Slate says we are ‘stronger and more united than ever.’ That just shows how out of touch they are.
“We haven’t forgotten that they tried to slash our raises by ten cents, take away coffee pay from the drivers and, eliminate 25 & Out for all new members.
“Local 804 Members United mobilized against these givebacks— and members voted them down by 3 to 1.
“Local 804 members have the power to beat concessions when we use our right to vote. We proved it in the last contract. And we can prove it again when we get our ballots on November 17.”
