804 MEMBERS UNITED ACTION PLAN TO PROTECT YOUR BENEFITS

* Audit Our Funds and Report the Facts to the Members Full disclosure.  No more secrecy or surprise cuts.

* Hire Professionals to Help Prepare a Plan for the Future.  We will hire top-notch actuaries and experts to prepare a report on what it will take to defend our pensions, medical plan and retiree healthcare.

* Form a Benefits Protections Committee to ensure rank-and-file oversight of our benefit funds and membership involvement in preparing a plan to protect our benefits.

These are basic reforms. But each one represents a dramatic reversal from what members have been put through under Row A.

* Row A hid the crisis in both the Pension and Health Funds. In 2006 and again in 2007, Local 804 members were blindsided by benefit cuts: first a 30 percent cut in our pension accrual and then hikes in our co-pays.

* Row A invested our Pension Funds incompetently. The Pension Fund’s own actuaries, hired by Howie, produced a report that said $100 million of our Pension is due to bad investments, NOT a weak stock market.  (Click here to read it yourself)

* Row A has misled the membership and gone along with benefit cuts. Row A told us that we had to accept UPS’s first offer or it would be illegal to reverse the 30% pension cut.  We proved they were lying when we Voted NO and won a contract that restored our pension AND kept 25 & Out for all members.

Row A claims they have experience. But Local 804 members don’t need to “experience” more mismanagement,  secrecy, and surprise benefit cuts. We need a new direction and a plan for protecting our benefits going into the future. That’s what 804 Members United will deliver.
