Ten Changes We’ll Make Starting Day One
Take on Supervisors Working
Form a Supervisors Working Task Force and launch a campaign to make UPS pay for violations. The Executive Board will make surprise building raids. Management won’t know when we’re coming, but they’ll know why we’re there.
Tough, Fair Contract Enforcement
Officers and business agents in the centers enforcing the contract. Put an end to go-along, get-along. Bring back tough, but fair, contract enforcement.
Protect Our Benefits: Audit the Funds and Report to the Membership
Hire professionals to audit our funds and report to the members on what needs to be done to defend our pensions, health & welfare and retiree healthcare. No more secrecy or surprise cuts.
Fight Production Harassment
Aggressive representation to address production harassment whether it’s on the truck or inside the building. Enforce 9.5 language. Workshops for members on how to deal with OJS, supervisory harassment and how to protect yourself when management is demanding unreasonable production.
Round-the-Clock Representation
Increase representation in neglected shifts and work areas. Union representation on call and available 24/7. UPS is a 24-hour operation. Local 804 will be too.
Cut Excessive Officer Salaries
Cut every officer’s salary by a minimum of $35,000 and put the savings to work for the membership. No salary increases without a vote of the members.
Fight for More Full-Time Jobs
UPS has eliminated some full-time jobs in violation of the contract. We will conduct a local-wide audit and demand that UPS create more full-time jobs by filling vacant Article 22.3 combo positions.
Keep Members Informed
End the information blackout from contract talks to our benefit funds. Hold craft meetings to address problems in package, feeders and inside operations. Rotate meeting locations so all members can attend.
Launch the 804 Teamster University
Year-round educational programs for stewards and members on contract enforcement, effective grievance handling, labor history and more.
Honor the Legacy of Ron Carey
Establish leadership awards and a scholarship program to honor Ron Carey. We will work for a stronger future by honoring the best in Local 804’s past.
