website-thumbThe 804 Members United Slate will cut bloated officer salaries and perks and spend the union’s money on the membership.

The Local 804 Executive Board paid themselves between $143,000 and $167,000 with our dues money last year. It’s time to spend our dues money on programs that benefit the membership.

The 804 Members United team will cut the salary of every Local 804 officer by $35,000. We will eliminate 401K contributions for Local 804 officers.  In all, we will slash Executive Board salaries and perks by more than $400,000 a year.

Bloated Salaries, Multiple Retirement Plans

Last year, Local 804 members got a 35¢ wage increase. Our Executive Board endorsed this concessionary contract and told us it was “fair for the times.” But the Executive Board had a very different idea of what was “fair” for themselves. They hiked their own pay by $4,000 to $10,000 depending on the officer or BA.

On top of their big salaries, Local 804 officials get two pensions plus contributions to their 401K—all paid for with our dues money.

Local 804 salaries for officers and BAs are tens of thousands of dollars higher than the salaries in  Boston Local 25, Chicago Local 705, L.A. Locals 63 & 396, New Jersey Local 177, Seattle Local 174 and every other UPS local.

We have no problem with Local 804 officers getting paid fairly. We expect our union officers to work long hours and hard-working union officers deserve to be compensated for their time and effort.

But the salaries at Local 804 are clearly excessive.

tim“We will cut officer salaries and use the savings to pay for contract enforcement  campaigns to take on supervisors working, production harassment and full-time job elimination.

“We will provide 24-hour union representation and launch a Teamster University with year-round classes for 804 members on contract enforcement, effective grievance handling and more.

“Your dues money should be spent on programs that benefit you.”
