The Executive Board unanimously endorsed the most concessionary UPS contract in 25 years—all while the company was making record profits. Row A’s deal would have reduced our 35 cent raise (already an embarrassment)  by 10 more cents.

Row A also agreed to let UPS take away 25 & Out and the 15-minute coffee bonus from all new members.

Row A and UPS told members that if we voted their concessionary contract down, it would be be illegal to restore the 30 percent pension cut. We proved them wrong.

The candidates on the 804 Members United Slate opposed the concessions and we organized to defeat them. We formed the 804 Make UPS Deliver network. We held membership meetings.  We launched a Vote No campaign.

Local 804 members voted down Row A’s concessions by nearly 3 to 1.  We stopped the 10¢ wage diversion saving members $3.75 million over the life of the contract. And we saved 25 & Out benefits for every member.

The Vote No campaign didn’t win the contract that Local 804 members deserve. But we showed the strength members have when we stand united.

Row A told us their concessionary deal was “Fair for the times.” We said Local 804 members deserved more and that we could win more. Then we took action to make it happen.

That’s where we stand? How about you?
